The SMS PTA Executive Board elections are upcoming. Please read the following for important information regarding dates, times and positions. All positions are open and any parent or person in parental relationship to an SMS Student can be nominated.
We are particularly in need of PTA members who can:
- support our website and member database;
- would enjoy writing monthly newsletters or supporting with other letter writing;
- Like organizing mater; or
- planning community events!
You may nominate yourself or another parent/guardian by sending an email to: nomcom@smsparents.org by May 18, 2022.
ELECTIONS:

POSITIONS:
Executive Board
President(s) [Currently 2; one each from K-8 and 9-12]
- Oversee exec board
- Host monthly EB and general membership meetings
- Meet regularly with school admin to lend necessary support and address concerns
- Serve on SLT
- Represent the PTA at relevant district and citywide DOE meetings
Co/Vice-President(s) [1-2]
- Shadows the president(s) and fills in where necessary.
- Expectation is for the co-VP to run for president in the subsequent year.
Treasurer(s) [Currently 3, one each from K-5, 6-8, 9-12]
- Maintain and balance the budget
- Manage payments
- Send letters of acknowledgement for all PTA contributions
Secretary [1-2]
- Manage all PTA correspondence: Meeting reminders, meeting minutes, emails to members
- Coordinate GSuite Administration
- Manage the agenda for EB and General Membership meetings
- Run online meetings
Recording Secretary [1-2]
- Take minutes for PTA meetings
- Confirm quorum for all meetings
Digital Communications [1-2]
- Manage the PTA website, plus additional digital platforms as necessary
- Support PTA membership database
SLT [4]
- Elementary school representative [1]
- Middle school representative [1]
- High school representative [1]
- Alternate [1]
