Merkin Re-Opening Celebration
The Merkin Re-Opening Gala on January 8th, will include the performance of a premiere by the members of Face the Music, the SMS school new music ensemble.

PTA Planning Meetings
The PTA will be scheduling planning meetings for the SMS Family Dance (March), Art Show (April) and the Barnes and Noble Fundraiser (TBD.) We need your help! If you are interested or able to assist with any of these events and you have not already let the PTA know please inform your class parent. Thanks!
NYS ELA Tests
New York State ELA tests are here for grades 3-8. Here is the schedule:
January 8/9, Tuesday/Wednesday— ELA Test, Grades 3 and 5.
January 8/9/10, Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday— ELA Tests, Grades 4.
January 15/16, Tuesday/Wednesday— ELA Tests Grade 7 and 8.
January 15/16/17, Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday— ELA Test, Grade 6.
Annual Concerto Competiton
Our annual school Concerto Competition, this year dedicated to piano, winds, and brass, will be held on Monday, January 14, 2008.
100 Days of Practice Celebration
Students have until January 29th to complete their “100 Days of Practice” booklet and drop it off in Jenny Undercofler’s office to qualify for the celebration ceremonies on February 4th and 5th .

National Dance Institute Mid-Year Performances
The N.D.I. mid-year performance will be held in the Ann Goodman Recital Hall on Thursday, December 13th. K-2 at 9:45AM and 3-5 at 10:30AM.
