CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ENTIRE SMS COMMUNITY FOR AN AMAZING ONLINE AUCTION!

We are pleased to report that our 2nd Annual Online Auction was a great success, thanks to everyone’s support, participation and efforts.

The highlights:

  • We bested last year in all measurements, collecting nearly 200 items/donations. Of these, 81 percent garnered bids from 100 bidders (up from the previous year’s 87).
  • Our gross total raised is: $13,745 — easily double last year’s and way beyond the $10,000 goal we had set at the beginning of the planning process this school year.

Special thanks:

  • SMS teachers and staff members — we are enormously grateful for your participation. Every member of the academic faculty generously donated their time and talents to the auction, as well as our principal, Katie Smith, and office and support staff, plus members of our music department. Thanks, too, to Kaufman Center, for donating tickets and for your ongoing support.
  • Each grade has been so generous with donations, and creative, too, putting together some of the most interesting and closely watched items. THANK YOU!
  • A big debt of gratitude is owed to the volunteer parents from each grade, who steered their classrooms during this entire process. Without you, this auction would not have been possible.
  • Major thanks to our many donors and bidders for their enthusiasm and generosity, and supporting our community.
  • Kudos to the PTA and its leadership for their help and support, and to Stephen Friedgood for the lovely auction logo, SMSParents.org shout-outs, and etc.

And thanks to our kids—the inspiration for this auction.

NOTE: Please allow week of February 25th for us to tend to administrative matters with Bidding for Good. Auction class reps, please start collecting the donations from your grade to forward to us. We will start distributing items on Monday, March 4th, 2013, and throughout the rest of the next week.
